small crowd today
|
I was shocked by the poor attendance today. 30,000? I'm watching Villa play now with a near full-house. Was it mainly Covid factor, or transport?

Probably a bit of both. No overland rail was a massive pain in thr arse. However, even with that I was surprised how few there were there.

Also perhaps some couldn’t be arsed with the form filling nonsense. Plus crap weather, Boxing Day etc.

Didnt go today, not because of COVID but because our rail system is so fucked up that they shut the whole system into London on the anglia line down every xmas and i couldn't be arsed to find another way there.

Il be amazed if the club requests another boxing day match again both Anglia and.c2c were completely out . And they should have known the gate would be massively down due to it .

Shouldn't be a surprise that rhe trains were out. C2c and anglia have never run on boxing day.
I drove up and got the tube.

Mad dog, yes they have. It’s the last four years they haven’t run for before that they always used to run.

Maybe anglia. But c2c never have. Very few rail networks run boxing day

Travelling in from Harrow was a pain too. No met line after Wembley park & Jubilee out north of Willesden green so had to suffer the rail replacement bus. I don't remember these issues going to boxing day fixtures years ago. All in all well pissed off.

I went as I haven't been to a Boxing Day game in years but no-one smelt of Brut and no-one was smoking a cigar in the stands. I won't bother again.

A lot more men in the UK are doormats now, that would be one reason. Back when Boxing day would be the 'escape' after the efforts of Christmas day. Now many won't be allowed, probably given plenty of tasks by wifey. Visiting the in-laws would be one.

Now they've worked out so many can't get to the ground without any train service on Boxing Day, we'll have home fixtures for the next ten years.

If the WORLD CLASS TRANSPORT LINKS into Stratford are going to be as dismal or non existent as yesterday we might as well apply to be away every Boxing Day. Would have been a certain amount of COVID isolators and maybe some who couldnt believe we were actually allowed to play at home.
Not sure that many 'doormats' were 'forced' to be at home. Given the sound of many relationships on here I would expect the MISSUS would have been pushing most out the door waving a carving knife.
